Did you know... Agnes Scott ranks #2 in the entire U.S. in economics Ph.D.s earned per undergraduate degree awarded. Women's colleges have an excellent track record of preparing women for graduate school, as exemplified by our department. Average earnings among college graduates who majored in economics are higher than for almost any other major. Across all workers, women earn 77% of what men earn, on average. Studying economics can help you learn why that happens and help you avoid becoming part of that statistic! We offer majors in Economics, Economics and Organizational Management, and Mathematics-Economics (which is joint with the Math Department). We also offer a minor in Economics. Students in the Intro to Organizational Management class create and carry out public service projects as part of the course, giving them an opportunity to see how the leadership theories they learn in the classroom apply in practice. Many of our students work in internships all over the Atlanta area during the school year and all around the world during the summer. Agnes Scott is located just a few miles from Atlanta and a short walk from the public transit system, giving students access to incredible internship opportunities. The Economics and Organizational Management major offers in-depth study of management theories and techniques. Traditional business administration undergraduate majors, in contrast, give students a smattering of knowledge in many topics--from marketing to management to finance--without a deep understanding of any particular topic. |
